Allen, Texas, is a growing, affluent suburb north of Dallas. Allen is a community whose population exploded as the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex expanded. After World War II, only several hundred people called Allen home. Today, Allen is a modern city with about 85,000 residents. The city of Allen has committed over 800-acres to parks and green space. There are over 50-miles of trails and five different recreation centers.

PGA touring pro D.A. Weibring is the architect credited with designing the new 18-hole layout at The Courses at Watters Creek. The championship layout opened in 2012, and another 18-holes at this municipal facility is planned for the future.

Cabela's outdoor outfitters also maintains one of its huge regional stores right in Allen. Take the kids there to see dioramas and fish tanks amidst the extensive merchandise offerings.

Music lovers can enjoy the "Concerts by the Creek" series at the modern, multi-use Watters Creek development. Many events are held at the Allen Event Center. The Dallas Sidekicks, a pro soccer team, plays its home games here. Professional hockey games featuring the Allen Americans are also played here. Rodeo events are scattered throughout the year. Arena football is also played at the Event Center.
