The town of University Park was organized in 1915 and was actually started as a group of homes that were built to support the employees and students of Southern Methodist University. The two towns continued to grow until they soon shared a city limit boundary. As the booming town of Dallas, TX continued to spread out, the two park cities became part of the greater metropolis.
The Park Cities feature lots of great parks and recreational areas for you to enjoy with locations like Coffee Park with baseball and soccer fields as well as children's playgrounds and picnic areas for families to enjoy. Caruth Park offers everything from sports fields and tennis courts to hiking trails, a fishing lake and plenty of picnic grounds and facilities for family gatherings and group activities.

White Rock Lake also includes pavilions for rent, a cultural center and the White Rock Lake Museum with lots of displays and exhibits of local artifacts as well as performing arts events and festivals.
